Caboolture Hospital Case Study 2

When Caboolture Hospital underwent a significant capacity expansion in 2011, they engaged Velocity Energy to upgrade the installation design and connection of their new Perkins 875kVA generator.

What we did

  1. Initial consulting:
In addition to the initial audit and assessment, we negotiated with numerous parties to reduce costs.  We also provided revised specifications for the Main Switch Board to simplify the complexity and reduce the components required.
  2. Installation and connection:
We installed the control system, which provides interruption-free parallel operation with the mains grid supply.  This permits the generator to immediately gain income from participating in our virtual power plant program.  We also managed all communication and negotiation of the generator connection agreement with Energex.
  3. Ongoing maintenance and testing:
We conduct regular maintenance and on-load testing on all three generators to ensure 100% reliability and optimal operation at all times.

Project Outcome

The final project will include installation, synchronisation with existing generators, and connection to the grid for revenue generation of an additional 875kVA emergency generator capacity.   Switchboard and control upgrades were also completed to manage the increased reserve power capacity effectively.

Testimonial

“Velocity Energy provided an elegantly simple turnkey solution that not only gives us the reliable, increased emergency generation capacity we need but also provides us with a healthy income stream from what would otherwise be sunken assets.”
